October 4 Autumn Amble Penshurst Place Take in the changing colours of Autumn, while discovering local history, with a stroll across the stunning Penshurst Place parkland. The two hour morning
walk, led by Estate Manager Ben Thomas sets off at 11am. Following the circular walk, visitors are served a delicious two-course roast lunch by Leith’s in The Garden Restaurant. With unguided admission
to the house and gardens contained within the ticket price, visitors can spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the historic 14th century house and gardens at their leisure. Tickets £28 include access
to the house and gardens. Wear suitable walking footwear. 11am onwards.
October 6 Open Evening
Canterbury Cathedral A rare chance to visit the Cathedral free of charge and enjoy visits to the private chapels, the bell tower, the organ loft and the choir practice room, as well as enjoy free guided and audio tours.
October 10 Puppetry Festival, Tunbridge Wells This inaugural festival — and the first of its kind in the country — brings together a programme of quality puppetry and animation events in a variety of venues across the town. Workshops and cabaret performances take place at The Forum plus a full day of free outdoor performances including Punch & Judy and other street art, local street food and crafts and puppetry stalls on The Pantiles. 10am – 9pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to try their hand at skilled crafts including stone carving, applying gold leaf and brass rubbing. This year, there will be a special exhibition about important women in the Cathedral’s history .The evening will finish with a concert sung by the
Hand-picked events and great days out around the county.
October 4 Classic Car Rally, Wrotham - Hever Get a glimpse of some of the county’s best classic cars when the Blackpalfrey Motor Club of Kent hits the road to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Setting out from the Moat at Wrotham Heath, 65 cars will
drive through the country lanes on route to Groombridge Place on the Kent/Sussex border for coffee before heading off to Bewl Water for Lunch. A gentle afternoon ride will finish at Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, for a well- earned afternoon tea by the lake. This is a chance to see a fascinating variety of
spectacularly-polished pre-1995 vintage and veteran vehicles who take to the road to raise funds for charity.

October 10 & 11 Autumn Extravaganza Great Comp Garden, Platt, near Sevenoaks The newest event in Great Comp’s seasonal calendar, this weekend is designed to show the garden at the height of its autumnal splendour. There will be a strong focus on garden ornamentation, as well as local crafts and artisan foods to enjoy. Admission from £6.
