Car park Suon Valence Parish Council had requested a donation towards maintenance of the car park as itwas now being used by school parents/carers, some of whom come from East Suon. Itwas decided that as and when maintenancewas needed and quotes received, East Suon would consider a donation.


Hunton


Flooding Neil Gunn from the Environment Agency spoke about the history of flooding in the area and the River Medway Flood Storage Project. Members requested that they are involved and provided with information on the project. Mr Gunn asked for details of properties affected by flooding that hewas not already aware of. Police PCSO Judgeswas not at the meeting and a crime reportwas not provided. Cllr SteveWyles said no crimes had been reported but there had been a head-on collision on Hunton Hill. King GeorgeVplaying field Thewaste area in the corner of the fieldwas discussed. There had been no further damage to the surface of the car park and the drainwas workingwell. The boom four steps of the slidewere to be replaced and the hedge would be cut. The poplar trees had been topped. Maidstone Council would be contacted about the overflowing bins and a garden binwas to be bought by the commiee. The rubbish between the village hall and the bowls club had been cleared. Football pitch There had been requests from other football clubs but the pitch would not withstand further use. Cricket pavilion The chairman of Hunton Wanderers Cricket Club Simon Taylor said the decoratingwas nearly complete, the second electrical fixwas complete and the plumberwas due to start. The pavilionwas due to be completed by September. Village hall The hall passed the annual electrical inspection. Some work had been done. The insurance cost this year had halved after a new insurerwas found. There had been another failure in the drainage system, whichwas dredged. Therewere blockages ofwet wipes and sticks thrown into the drainage cover. The blue binwas being monitored. Footpath Cllr David Heaton said a tree had been removed from the footpath at the boom of Barn Hill. SpeedWatch Therewere three new recruits who would be trained, taking the team up to nine. The team had been talking to Yalding to combine the cover. Neighbourhood plan The first stagewas complete. Comments had been received from 20% of residents, from the pre-school and from parents at the school through use of a graffitiwall. Main issues included road conditions, traffic, speeding, lorries and parking.


Defibrillator Hunton and Linton Pre-school had raised funds for a defibrillator which would be placed outside the village hall. The pre-school had asked for a contribution towards the cost of an outdoor digital heated cabinet to house the defibrillator – the costwas £395 + VAT aswell as the cost of fiing. The Hunton Heraldwas to contribute £100 and the playing field commiee has agreed to contribute a portion. If the playing field commiee contributed £100 the parish council would pay the remainder.

Borough report Boroughward Cllr Paulina Stockell reported on the removal of the designation of the LowWeald Special Landscape area from the local plan. This had been called back to the policy and resources commiee for further discussion. SpeedWatch Cllr Young had deployed the equipment three times and it had recorded significant speeding in the Leeds Road area. Planning Itwas agreed that the new development at the rear of Hebron Villa should be calledWarrens Drive. Village hall Following planning approval in 2012 for a small extension to the village hall to provide additional changing room facilities for the football club, the village hall management commiee had asked the parish council to take the lead on this project.Ameeting would be arranged with the commiee and the club to discuss the changing of the building lease and fundraising. WebsiteAcouncillor raised the issue that the dormantwebsite www.langley- kent.org.uk always appeared first on search engines and thiswas causing some confusion with residents. The clerk had asked thewebmaster to take it down.


Marden


Police Therewas a theft from a car and an incident of criminal damage. There had been reports of nuisance bikes on the playing field. The rider had been identified and spoken to. The caravan had been removed from The Cockpit area. Speed checkswere carried out along Goudhurst Road. Police dogs came to the village and a young person was spoken to regarding drugs. Drugswere also found and the personswere dealt with by the police and referred to the Drugs Intervention Support Programme. Playing field changing rooms The clerk had previously circulated details of work that Marden Minors Football Club wished to have undertaken in the changing rooms and their action plan for the future of the club. The clerkwas asked to ascertain whether the ceiling had been fixed and councillors requested details for costings of extractor fans and airbricks. Lier bins Maidstone Council had provisionally agreed to replace six lier bins but asked that Marden contribute half the costs – about £650. Thiswas agreed. Clothing bank Clotheswere overflowing from the clothing bank at Marden car park and bags had been left around the base. As emptying of the bankwas not done often enough, the borough council proposed that it be removed and would look into this. Southons Field The assistant clerk had obtained some costings for a lier bin. Cllr Newton offered to build a wooden lier bin and a notice board for the signs. Thiswas accepted and the assistant clerkwas asked to source a metal bin to place inside. HighwaysArequest had been received asking the parish council to consider a road crossing in Marden High Street. Councillors would visit the provisional site.


Staplehurst


Redrow HomesApositive meeting had been held by councillors and members of the Neighbourhood Plan Group with Redrow Homes.Apublic exhibition and


consultationwas to be held. Bins Newly-purchased lier bins for the Jubilee Field had arrived and would be installed by the caretaker. Certificated camp site Councillors discussed the application to set up a certified camp site on land at Petersfield, Maidstone Road, whichwas under consideration by the Camping and Caravanning Club. Itwas noted that applications meeting the required criteria did not need local authority planning permission.Acomment that a reasonable last arrival time should be established for users of the site would be submied to the club. Parish surgeryAresident had asked about affordable homes for local people in the Saxon Mead development. Cllr Joan Buller said that the forthcoming issue of the Village Update would carry information on this and Golding Homeswas keen to see local people come forward for their properties. Sobell Lodge Following a visit fromMP Helen Grant, her office had asked for information about responsibility for footway areas at The Parade. SpeedWatch The baery used by the team had long exceeded its expected life and a new onewas required. Itwas agreed to spend £115 on a baery and £25 on a support leg for the equipment, plus Vat and carriage. Planning Cllr Buller advised that a mobile home had blocked Frienden Lane when manoeuvring on to land next to Blossom. Councillors agreed to pursue the chairman’s suggestion that an officer from Maidstone Council be invited to speak to them about gypsy and traveller issues. Playscheme The report of the review meeting held with Play Placewas noted. Final figureswere still awaited but aendance appeared lower than last year. Additional cleaning of the Guide Centre had been required at the end of the play scheme. The cleaning chargewas £70 in addition to the agreed hire charge balance of £500. Toilet The door of the men’s toilet at Bell Lane had been vandalised.Apolice report had been submied. Public forumAresident spoke about Maidstone Council’s proposed exclusion of the LowWeald from the Landscapes of Local Value in the draft local plan, criticised inconsistencies and lack of clarity in the proposal and urged the parish council to oppose it.

Parish office The postal address had been registered and the phone line had been ordered. The clerkwas to order a leer box for outside. The clerkwas to ask the photocopier provider to move it to a new office. The clerkwas to investigate an independent CCTV system. Local plan Cllr Eileen Riden wrote to the strategic planning commiee asking that the LowWeald be included in the local plan as a landscape of local value. The commiee voted against this. Maintenance The beech hedge around the village green had been reported to the contractor. Lambes Garden outside the Kings Head needed to be cut back. Thiswas reported to the school and the clerkwas to chase it up.Areport had been scheduled for work on a cypress tree by KCC, but a yew had been cut down.Aparishioner had made a complaint whichwas reported to KCC.
