Brian Humphris and son Will
were victorious, along with father and daughter combo James and Ella Knight. There were no senior men wins
this year, but every senior lady came away with a pot, making 33 in total for the Maidstone crew mem- bers and the club’s greatest win to date. In the junior categories, the first race of the day was won by Oscar

to go ahead HARRIETSHAM Parish Council failed in its bid to halt a proposed storage building in Fairbourne Manor Stables, Fairbourne Lane. Glenda Dean, of the parish coun-
cil, told Maidstone Council's plan- ning committee: “Harrietsham has been allocated a large amount of development so it makes sense we protect this area from being ur- banised. “We have an issue with placing
this building adjacent to a lane; it is the size of a house and will harm the character of the lane.” Mike Tamsett, on behalf of the applicant, said: “This is for the stor- age of tools, on-site security and wash facilities. The applicant des- perately needs these facilities.” The committee felt the scheme
would have a minimal impact on the area and granted permission.
Plan dropped
APLANfor seven homes on part of a builder’s yard at Eyhorne Street, Hollingbourne has been with- drawn. Maidstone Council’s con- servation officer said the scheme was “overdominant in relationship to the adjacent Eyhorne Green Cot- tages”. The applicant plans to sub- mit a revamped proposal.
