Getting to Know: Adina Young, DATIA Communications Manager
How long have you been with DATIA and what changes have you seen since you started? I’ve only been with DATIA two years but it truly feels like a lot longer—in a good way! I feel so
much a part of the DATIA family. Laura, Kristina and Emily and the Board of Directors have really made an effort to include me in all aspects of DATIA and the drug and alcohol testing industry. I’ve gained a lot of experience in the industry in a short period of time. For the short time I have been a part of DATIA, I have seen many vital changes to regulations, not to mention some changes to how we disseminate information to our members, in particular via social media. It’s been a great project to take on!
What do you love most about DATIA? That’s an easy one—I absolutely LOVE interacting with the members! With a background in journalism, I’ve always been told I ask a lot of questions—sometimes too many. The great thing about DATIA members is that they appreciate my inquisi- tive nature! I love meeting them at the Annual Conference each year and putting faces with names. I feel like I can learn so much from our members.
What do you find most intriguing about the drug and alcohol testing industry? Te ever-changing legislation and regulations! It’s so interesting to follow all of it on State Track and then compose the leters in Capwiz to assist members in standing up for or fighting a piece of legislation.

Fun Question—What’s something completely unexpected about you that members don’t know? I’m a triplet! My sister Celeste is a U.S. Naval Physician stationed in Norfolk, Va. and my sister Courtney is an award-winning E-6 Aviation Machinist Mate who was just recently stationed at Naval Station Norfolk having spent 8 years in Japan. I grew up a U.S. Air Force brat, but I didn’t have the same urge as them to join the service. As the runt of the liter, I was destined for greatness in other areas of life! ❚
