AT A GLANCE Dunblane Fling Weekend

So what are the other changes you’ll fi nd at this year’s Fling?

Well, we’re introducing some local rivalry – a tug of war competition! A few of the local hostelries and businesses are keen to enter teams, but in keeping with the fact that The Fling is a family event, there won’t be any professional teams – and we have stipulated that each team must include at least 2 women. We’ve got an experienced referee to keep it on track, and there will be a magnifi cent trophy for the winning team.

We’re delighted that by developing our relationship with Discover Dunblane that some businesses in Dunblane will also be doing special events for The Fling. Many will tie in with the Food & Drink theme, so you’ll be able to fi nd many more treats to tempt you as you wander around Dunblane, up the High Street and on the Drying Green.

But there are a couple of changes that we would like all of you to think about.

There are signifi cant costs involved in putting on The Fling every year, so this year, at each entrance to the Drying Green, we will have buckets for anyone who would like to make a donation towards the running costs. We’d suggest £2pp, or £5.00 for a family. So please take pity on the poor volunteers and ‘chuck it in the bucket’.

The other thing is that we could use a few volunteers on Saturday 30 May, to do a bit of stewarding, either during the High Street procession, or on the Drying Green.

Finally, just a warning that the early birds have started to snap up tickets for the ceilidh and concert, both through the website and from Smallprint. Make sure you don’t miss out…..
