Glencairn, Doune Rd, Dunblane Pets Corner: Bichon Frise

If you are looking for a pet dog, which fi ts in well with family life, then look no further than a Bichon Frise. A small, sturdy dog with a fl uff y coat, these pets love human company and are incredibly aff ectionate. Given their self- assured, happy temperament they make super family pets particularly as they are easy to train.

The American Kennel Club refers to the Bichon Frise as ‘merry’ and ‘cheerful’ and the breed standard calls for a dog that is ‘gentle mannered, sensitive, playful and aff ectionate’.

Indeed this breed is considered suitable

for most people with allergies since they do not shed hair like other breeds. Saliva or drool isn’t really an issue in this little dog either who interestingly needs only up to 30 minutes of exercise each day.

Coupled with their size this makes them ideal companions for those living in both fl ats, small or large houses. With a lifespan of over 12 years you can be assured of an extroverted companion who will quickly become an integral part of the family.
