Transformational Medicine Australia Can arthritis, diabetes, heart disease,

cancer be reversed? *Reverse mitochondrial dysfunction to reverse disease

If you have just been diagnosed with cancer, chances are you are afraid

for your life According to GLOBOCAN 2008 database, Australia has the 3rd highest cancer rate, following closely after Denmark and Ireland. We ‘fight’ cancer with the familiar three-pronged attack of surgery, and heavy duty chemotherapy and radiation, which leaves the immune system pretty battered. Integrative medicine is working to support

patients from the side effects of conventional chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. However the odds for long term survival can be greatly improved with a new paradigm called Integrative Oncology.

Integrative oncology – How is this different from conventional chemotherapy?

Confusion still surrounds the origin of cancer. Contradictions and paradoxes have plagued the field. Cancer establishments have viewed the origin of cancer to be gene mutations. However cancer is now shown to be a metabolic disorder. Emerging evidence indicates that impaired cellular energy metabolism is the defining characteristic of nearly all cancer regardless of cellular or tissue origin. In contrast to normal cells, which derive most of their usable energy from oxidative phosphorylation, most cancer cells become heavily dependent on substrate level phosphorylation to meet energy demands. Evidence has been reviewed supporting a general hypothesis that genomic instability and essentially all hallmarks of cancer, including aerobic glycolysis (Warburg effect), can be linked to impaired mitochondrial function and energy metabolism. A view of cancer as primarily a metabolic disease will impact approaches to cancer management and prevention.

The causes of mitochondrial dysfunction are: 1) Hypoxia (low oxygen levels in cells). 2) Hyperacidity. 3) Infection 4) Toxicity from heavy metals, pollutions, free radicals, ionising radiation 5) Hormonal imbalance 6) Nutritional deficiency : enzymes, hormones, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals 7) Energetic disturbance (electromagnetic radiations).

How do arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and other degenerative diseases fit into this?

Degenerative diseases like arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, chronic infections like Lymes and

auto immune disorders, etc., are all part of the breakdown cycle of mitochondrial dysfunction, with cancer (abnormal cell growth) being the biological endpoint of disease. Mitochondrial disorders may manifest as: immune weakness / dysfunction, chronic inflammations, diabetes, neurological problems, muscle weakness, poor coordination, visual and hearing problems, learning disabilities, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, heart, liver and kidney disease, gastro- intestinal & respiratory disorders, arthritis, strokes, cancer and chronic fatigue. The list continues. So by addressing mitochondrial health at any of the stages, we are able to reverse the breakdown to degeneration and return cellular function to homeostasis. This is more potent than just screening for disease and an ultimate mode of preventative medicine for cancer and all degenerative diseases. An integrative approach looks at bringing

the internal milieu back into balance addressing issues of tissue oxygenation, acidity, hydration, toxicity, pollutions, infection, EMR, hormones, stress and its hormones and neurotransmitters.

A simple integrative approach might look something like this:

1) Use of complementary therapies such as intravenous vitamin C and ozone (a medical gas) therapies, which have been proven to kill cancer cells, so there can be less reliance on chemo and a stronger defence against infections. 2) Use of ultraviolet light to kill bugs associated

with cancer and degenerative disorders. 3) Use of insulin potentiated therapy to target a

low dose of anti microbials that will enter the cell walls of bacteria, parasites, fungus and viruses more effectively 4) If needed an Integrative Oncology approach

can include the use of insulin potentiated therapy to target a low dose of chemo drugs to cancer cells, largely bypassing healthy cells; thus causing less side effects and very little loss of hair, nausea, vomiting or peripheral neuropathy. 5) Use of glutathione, NAC, polyMVA®, and

other detoxifying agents to help sweep out the cellular debris present when a tumour is successfully shrinking. 6) Use of nutrients and homeopathic remedies

to help support the liver which has the all important job of detoxification during treatment. 7) Recognition that cancer usually takes hold in

a body depleted of nutrients so the use of dietary supplements to replenish vitamins, minerals, and amino acids is recommended. So too is dietary counselling. 8) Recognition that cancer and chronic illness

often have an emotional component; addressing suppressed emotions can be an immense help in overcoming cancer long term. Integrative medicine care involves an

agreement between the doctor and the patient

as to how to address the illness in all its facets : especially how to target the diseased tissue; how to heal an overwhelmed immune system; and how to make lifestyle changes so that the body is less hospitable to degeneration. The old paradigm was that we ‘fight’ illnesses

like cancer and consider our bodies an enemy to be attacked and vanquished. The new paradigm respects our body’s innate

healing powers and recognises that, ultimately, our mitochondrial function and immune system are the protection we have against cancer and all degenerative diseases.

Treatments available at Transformational Medicine Australia include:

Chronic infections: treatments include as above

Complementary cancer therapies: Treatments include as above

Joint pain and arthritis: (i) Prolozone: using injections of nutrition and medical ozone to heal and REGENERATE joint lining, cartilage and improve joint space. http://transformationalmedicine. com/blog/prolozone

(ii) PRP and CGF : using concentrated growth factors from your own blood (serum) to stimulate regeneration of joints and tissues

(iii) Prolotherapy: strengthening lax ligaments and improving joint stability

(iv) Acupuncture : improve energy flow and release of endorphins, serotonins, dopamine related to pain, stress, anxiety and depression of arthritis and degenerative disease

Mind body medicine: transformational health pathways

Most importantly we recognise that cancer and chronic illness often have an emotional and spiritual component; supportive measures include: – One-to-one consultations and/or – Transformational Journey Retreats: a supported program of 10 monthly weekend retreats begins March 2015.
