INDUSTRY NEWS Triple pump system for harvesters A


unique hydraulic pump system, which effectively helps increase productivity


and improves fuel economy, has been launched by Komatsu Forest and is being fitted to all new Komatsu 901, 911, 931and 951 harvesters. The new 3PS triple pump system is the first hydraulic system that enables forest machine operators to perform several tasks at the same time, thereby increasing production. Operators can quite simply harvest more in less time. Since the 3PS system has three hydraulic pumps split into several hydraulic circuits, the availability of high hydraulic power is always guaranteed. This enables the operator to use several hydraulic functions at the same time. In addition, the energy


efficiency of the new triple pump system results in fuel savings


for the machine owner as fuel consumption per processed cubic foot is considerably lower compared to a harvester without a triple pump system.

Feller buncher


Just introduced by Tigercat is the 724G, the first ‘drive-to-tree’ feller buncher powered with the high performance Tigercat FPT N67 Tier 4f engine.


The 724G provides more power and has a newly-designed engine enclosure and improved component layout, providing superior access and serviceability. Of particular importance is that the Tigercat FPT engine meets Tier 4 final emission standards using the simplest possible technology.


The manufacturer focused on improving operator experience, productivity and service access. Engine power has increased from 220 hp to 247 hp with an engine enclosure roof profile designed for improved visibility. Detailed information is provided to the operator through a large colour display screen for accurate engine and machine monitoring. The enclosure access panels and doors have been redesigned for easier access and increased

Saw cutting harvester head


In 2012, Pentin Paja Oy released the Naarva S23 harvester head, which was the only harvester in the world that could cut, delimb and split a tree into firewood, directly after felling and without electricity. Now the harvester head is also available with 30 cm diameter saw cutting. It is mounted in place of a loading

grapple and requires no extra hydraulics or electricity. Operation of the S23C harvester head is based on pressure-controlled valves. A grapple close-button closes the grippers. When the grapple- close button is kept pressed, pressure rises and valves release oil flow to the delimbing stroke
