he biggest supplier of Toploaders in Europe, County Limerick, Ireland-based bhsl
mechanism is an innovative and economical solution for storing and dispensing large volumes of biomass, agricultural and waste products, and now offers a serious alternative to traditional bulk material handling systems. In Northern Europe, there is a proposal for a large CHP plant
utilising multiple bhsl Toploaders. This will be able to handle 800 tonnes per day and a single bhsl Toploader has the capacity to transport 36 tonnes of wood chips per day.
Because the entire mechanical apparatus sits above rather than underneath the stockpile, there
are huge savings in maintenance costs because, unlike moving fl oor systems, the bhsl Toploader’s moving parts are all easily accessible from overhead. In operation, the bhsl Toploader is mounted on a dual rail track above the storage bunker. A carriage on the rails holds a blade, which spans the width of the bunker and as the carriage moves forward, the blade removes material from the top of the
