National Counter Terrorism Awareness Week
P
roject Griffin once again demonstrated its place at the
forefront of the UK protective security effort during National Counter Terrorism Awareness Week, held between 24 and 30 November 2014. In a nationally- coordinated campaign, police forces all over the country hosted Griffin events, driving home the messages of vigilance, reporting of suspicious behaviour, and responding to attacks, that are central to Project Griffin. Working closely with local authorities and other key stakeholders, the all-too-topical Stay Safe message - around firearms and weapons attacks - and the Prevent programme, which promotes intervention with those vulnerable to radicalisation in the 'pre-criminal' space, were included in a successful week.
Project Griffin around the world
Internationally, Project Griffin continues to make its mark with projects developing in France, Belgium and Los Angeles, USA. The French police and partners have made a follow-up to London to discuss Project Griffin.
Project Griffin News in Brief Other developments include:
• The Project Griffin awards and criteria will be circulated soon.
• The training day now includes coverage of the Prevent programme.
• Following the incidents in Ottawa, Melbourne, Sydney and Paris, there has been increased interest in firearms and weapons awareness; Project Griffin has been advising on how to respond to this type of attack.
