Foothills Sentry Girl Scouts earn Silver Award Bailey Jones and Monica Zmudzinksi will make
a public presentation to earn their Girl Scout Sil- ver Award at the Orange Public Library on Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Their topic will be Bringing Your Neighbors Together by Planning Neighborhood Gatherings. The presentation will include reasons for planning
a gathering; how to do it; and the benefits derived from bringing neighbors together. The scouts know what they’re talking about. When Monica was 11, she noticed that there were

many new neighbors on her street, and she organized a dessert potluck as an excuse to get to know them. It was a welcome success, and nurtured lasting friend- ships. Last Easter Monica and Bailey, together with an-
other friend, planned an Easter egg hunt for the chil- dren in their immediate neighborhood, combined with a potluck lunch. It, too, was successful and further encouraged neighborhood camaraderie. Girl Scouts may earn Bronze Awards as a troop
project. Silver Award projects are earned by small groups of two or three, and Gold Awards are indi- vidual efforts. Bailey and Monica will work on their Gold Awards when they reach high school. Bailey attends Santiago Middle School, while
