Pinewood Derby puts on a show
Indian Princesses and Indian Guides gathered at The Village at Orange last month to
race their homemade cars in the annual Indian 500 Pinewood Derby. This event is a high- light for the boys and girls -- and dads -- in the Longhouse of The Orange Skies. Dads and their kids work together to craft their pinewood cars, streamlining them for
maximum aerodynamics, and painting and decorating each one for a unique look, such as a banana, a kitten or dog, a flaming hot rod, even a piano. Each car races six heats, working to post the best time. Indian Guides winners includ-
ed Jason White, first place, with a time of 5.5820 and an average speed of 146.6 mph; Christian Meyer, second; Neil Hennessey, third; Nathan Daileda, fourth; and Braeden No- rouzi, fifth. Princess winners were Ashley Peterson, first, who’s car posted a time of 5.5885, and an average speed of 146.4 mph; Ashlyn Pitts, second; Allison White, third; Simone Bilodeau, fourth; and Kameryn Bergeron, fifth.
