Foothills Sentry RSCCD trustees sworn in Three returning trustees of


the Rancho Santiago Commu- nity College District Board were sworn in Dec. 8 for new four-year terms. John R. Hanna, an attorney, has served as an elected member representing Trustee Area 2 for the past 16 years. Tax accoun- tant Lawrence R. Labrado was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board in 1994, and has continued to represent Trustee Area 4 since. Philip E. Yarbrough, economics teacher, first served as an elected board member in 1996, and is now in his fifth term representing Trustee Area 6.

for showcase Glen Warren’s technology class


at McPherson Magnet School has been selected by the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) to participate in the Stu- dent Technology Showcase for the fifth consecutive year. The middle school class was selected for its participation in, and imple- mentation of, the UC-Davis C- STEM robotics program, part of the Orange County Career Tech- nical Education grant program. In this class, students use com-


puter-aided drafting software and a 3-D printer to design and man- ufacture their own robot parts. They also learned C++, the com- puter language used to program each modular robot, and applied algebraic thinking to solve and plot out complex robotic interac- tions.
