goals by adding personal treasures to the garden. "Many of the plants in my garden are from people I love or are a favourite of someone I love," says Linda. "They are living memories of the people who gave them to me. The hoopsii blue spruce (Picea pungens 'Hoopsii'), my mom, Bernice Hurd, grew from seed, the bells of Scotland (Campanula rotun- difolia) are from my grandfather, Ray McLachlan's garden and the rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum) is from my best friend, Colleen Kidd." Their romance is no summer fling,
they share another passion, one that keeps the heart fires warm and glow- ing all winter long. Quilting! Wayne has written a book on quilting, Design- ing Quilts is Easy and both are involved in the Festival of Quilts in Calgary. In July Linda joins her two passions for her annual "Quilts in my Garden party." How fitting to join the heartfelt creations she and Wayne have created together in such a wonderful way. P
