WEEMPOWERED ARE
Many people don’t realize we still have a serious digital divide. Some of our students don’t even have a computer or WiFi at home and count on the technology we provide to do their work here and on the go.
Because we’re moving toward the 21st century library model of digital and media literacy, it’s been great to have donors support what we’re doing here to keep things relevant. Endowment funds have helped us purchase iPads for student and faculty use and offer a one-button studio computer for students to film, edit and display their projects.
We also house the Ogontz Collection, a rich resource that provides a glimpse of women living in a time when there weren’t many choices available to them. It’s empowering for our students to see how you can move forward and make a difference despite societal constraints. So many donors have given us scrapbooks, journals and other memorabilia. Now that we’re digitizing a lot of the information, we’re becoming nationally known for our archives and providing global access to scholars for historical and genealogy purposes.
