SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Awareity has accepted the 2014 Campus Safety BEST Award from Campus Safety Magazine, for its Cawood Assessment Grids, winning in the Incident and Records Management Software category. The honor was announced at the ASIS International 60th Annual Seminar and Exhibits taking place in Atlanta, GA.
As tragic stories of violence and suicide continue to mount nation-wide; schools, colleges and organizations must update their conventional approaches with next generation threat assessment solutions to proactively identify, investigate, assess and intervene with students and/or employees who show signs of distress, aggression and violence.
Awareity‘s TIPS prevention platform is taking threat assessment to the next generation level with the Cawood Assessment & Response Grids. The Cawood Grids offer an empirically based methodology to identify behavior of concern and provide a means to quantify the current potential risk of violence, both initially and after new behaviors are noted. This methodology is not available in other platforms and provides team members with a means to prioritize cases, resources use, and proactive intervention. The Cawood Grids also include responses you can assign to individuals to ensure follow-up actions occur.
“The individuals who judged all of the products are highly respected end-users, integrators and consultants who have intimate knowledge of the security industry. They were asked to judge on innovation, functionality, and benefits to the end user,” said Campus Safety Magazine Editor Robin Hattersley.
The TIPS/Cawood Assessment & Response Grids are critically needed tools for evaluating at-risk individuals and identifying potential aggression/violence risks. The Cawood Grids provide an empirically based methodology to help determine effective intervention and prevention actions and TIPS provides the right tools to connect all the right dots. Its Time for TRiM? (Trauma Risk Management)
TRiM is a trauma-focused peer support system which has benefited many 'at risk' organisations – legally (by providing a duty of care); economically (by keeping people at work) and morally (by looking after personnel). TRiM originated within the UK military as an evidence based alternative to previously-used reactive single session models of post incident intervention such as Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.
The TRiM model builds resilience by basing itself on keeping employees functioning after traumatic events by providing support and education to those who require it. Additionally, by training TRIM Practitioners at operational level throughout an organisation, TRiM aims to identify those who are not coping after potentially traumatising events and ensure they are signposted to professional sources of help.
TRiM provides the processes and practices for organisations to ensure that they have "trained eyes and ears" throughout your organisation. Such individuals will have the skills to pick up, not only on traumatic stress, but on the occupational and work-related stress that can impair individual's ability to work effectively. Our staff have repeatedly found that providing expert advice and assistance for 'at risk' organisations is considered to be a real benefit for ensuring those working in safety critical roles have access to support when they need it.
