THE

From human resources, legal, security, supervisory/m anagem ent, and the c-suite we all thought this type of policy was a great idea and another weapon in the arsenal of prevention. Unfortunately, I think its time for these policies to end.

The only thing that zero tolerance does is give the company a false sense of security and, a supposed, shield of invincibility against lawsuits. The other aspect is that it can actually instigate a more violent incident than it attempted to prevent.

The bottom line is that Zero tolerance policies simply don‘t work!

There is an increased awareness about the inherent dangers of working alone and thank goodness there are emerging tools that can help provide additional safety measures for these workers. In addition, these tools can serve as another option for organizations to use in creating ―stay safe at work‘ plan to help protect employees who have reported domestic violence concerns. Since effective safety does not end when people leave work these tools can also be helpful in providing additional safety for people outside of their work environment.

Safety is everybody‘s business all the time. Here are three great apps that can help your employees stay safer. The great news is that these apps work on mobile devices to turn them into digital lifelines.
