emotion through specific actions, in effectmaking ourmovement more articulate.

Iwas lucky enough to have an entire year of composition, and it has really helped to transformme as an artist. In late Spring, I performed in Creations, a showcompletely created by andmade up of students. The only requirementwas that eachwork had to incorporate at least two art forms, and that allwork had to be original. One of the collabo- rations Iwas in featuredmusicianswith an original score, an author who recited a personal poem, andmy solo choreography and perform- ance. All three art formswere combined and intertwined; itwasmy most rewarding performance to date.

The connections Imadewith the other artistswas so inspiring, so dif- ferent fromfocusing solely onmy own art form.We had to findways to express ideas to one another, to find a common vocabulary that would span across all of our art forms. The collaboration had far reach- ing effects forme personally;my entire viewon howto create and express has transcended.Andwhere did it all stemfrom? The original- ity of dance composition.

Within all of us is an artist, a childwhose imagination isn’t prohibited by boundaries or fear, but expresses a creativity and artistry that reach- es out and is able to connectwith an audience. Let composition express your creativity, as it hasmine.
