CHAMBER CHAT With Katie Anderson, Certification Executive, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce

BUSINESS Describe your role/job? As a Certification Executive I am responsible for checking export documentation for businesses to certify and arrange legalisation through the various embassies, if required.

What skills do you bring to the table? Attention to detail, organisational skills and good rapport with customers.

What’s the best thing about Glasgow Chamber of Commerce? The staff make Glasgow Chamber what it is with their approach to helping members get the best from Chamber membership and being part of the Glasgow business community. It’s also hard to beat the view of George Square every day.

What has been your career highpoint? So far, it’s been was working at Scotland House

during the Commonwealth Games. It was a once- in-a-lifetime experience and the atmosphere in our city was phenomenal.

What one thing would you wish for Glasgow in the future? After the success of the Commonwealth Games I can only wish that Glasgow will keep up the same momentum.

PERSONAL What do you do to relax at the weekend? If you ask anyone in the Chamber what I do to relax they would tell you it’s shopping. I also enjoy socialising with friends and going to gigs.

What is your favourite city outside the UK and why? Paris has to be my favourite city outside Glasgow as it is one of the most beautiful cities I ever have visited. It is full of history, culture and fashion.

Name your favourite book, film and album? I don’t necessarily have a favourite book but as a history student I prefer reading books that are related to my degree. My favourite film is Donnie Darko. I find it hard to pick just one favourite album as I have quite a varied music taste but one of my all-time favourites is Please Please Me by the Beatles.

What is your most embarrassing or humbling experience? The most humbling experience I’ve had is raising money by taking part in Race for Life the year after my best friend passed away. My friend and I had previously run the race together so it meant a lot to be there running in her memory.

If you could host a dinner party with four guests, who would you choose (two living, two dead)? John, Paul, George and Ringo … of course.
