Breathe is a programme that raises awareness around the issues of positive mental health for young people. Developed and run by the EBTI and The Gaiety School of Acting, Breathe is designed for students, teachers and parents. Throughout the Breathe workshops, students are encouraged to express themselves through different artistic mediums whether it be drawing, modelling, poetry, rap or theatre. The programme helps create a strong awareness around positive mental health and focus on changing attitudes and improving links between teachers, parents and teenagers. It questions assumptions about suicide prevention and teaches communication, listening, and coping skills to help create a closer community. Breathe has been in operation for a year with over 2900 students, 690 teachers and 640 parents/guardians from 53 schools taking part. IPB Insurance, which sponsors Breathe, is seeking 77 more ETB schools to take part for this term. E-mail Dr Anna Kadzik- Bartoszewska on
