added skylights and wall sconces to lighten the space even more, and a fan to circulate air and keep it cool.
Kitchen Remodel Tabor began a kitchen remodel by installing a bay window to open up the space and let in more natural light. One of the homeowners is an avid gardener, so Tabor built a custom-sized shallow poting sink made of recycled glass. Te homeowners say they spend many early morning hours gazing out the bay window, watching the woods around them come to life and soaking up the early morning sun. Tabor Design Build received the Grand Prize for “Green Interior Remodeling” for this kitchen remodel at the NARI CotY Awards in 2008.
Living Room Addition
Homeowners are getting blasts of vitamin D and serotonin every day in a sun-drenched addition built by Tabor Design-Build. The buttery yellow walls trimmed in white enhance the uplifting and sunny mood of the room. Clearly, it would be hard to stay depressed in this light-filled space.
Bathroom Additions Bathrooms can be the perfect place to soak up the sun. A wrap-around window design is enhanced by the full-length wall mirror above the sinks and countertop. A window-framed scene of treetops and sky is perfectly showcased by an absence of color. Te sunbeams bouncing off bright whiteness create an ethereal feeling of purity and lightness.
Family Room Addition A tiny dark porch with only two small windows at the back of the house wouldn’t allow the growing family to reap the benefits of a healthy sunny home environment. Tabor Design Build resolved that by
designing a new sun-filled family room and adding a long window, which is perfect for a small breakfast table and a computer station.
Two-Story Extension Tabor built a two-story rear addition to give this family a new master bedroom suite upstairs, with big beautiful custom windows, and extended the existing family room on the lower level, adding floor-to- ceiling windows across the entire back of the house for a wonderfully open and airy outdoor feel.
In-Home “Endless Pool” Addition An Endless Pool (see photo below) produces a smooth yet powerful water current, ideal for swimming, water exercise, aquatic therapy, triathlon training, or just plain heated relaxation. It offers all of the benefits of a traditional swimming pool, but requires only a fraction of the space. To let the light shine in, Tabor added floor to ceiling windows along the entire width of this addition, as well as a continuous row of windows running the length of the pool and a matching shorter set running the length of the Jacuzzi. Te effect allowed for maximum natural light, while providing privacy from neighboring homes.
