seat in these third quarter elections, that seat will be added to the fourth quarter special elections. The fourth quarter special elections


petitioning process will begin in October. So far, two vacant seats from the third quarter elections have rolled forward for lack of any eligible candidate. These are Seats 280 and 410. The latter seat represents members primarily at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. In addition, two more seats have been


vacated and will be added to the fourth quarter special elections. They are: • Seat 20 – State Department of


Corrections and Community Supervision: Attica, Wende, Gowanda, Collins, Lakeview and Wyoming correctional facilities; and • Seat 52 – State Department of


Corrections and Community Supervision: Auburn, Watertown, Ogdensburg, Five Points, Butler, Cayuga, Riverview, Cape Vincent, and Gouverneur correctional facilities. Any additional vacancies that arise


before the end of September will be added to the fourth quarter special elections.

A member of the NY Library Association, Martin served on its ethnic services round table, often giving presentations and writing articles on prison literacy and library services. He was active in Literacy Volunteers and St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy, and taught religious education at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In recent years, Martin had returned


to his love, developed in high school, of competitive rowing and last summer took part in the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, the Head of the Fish in Saratoga Springs and the Tony Fooks Regatta in Mississauga, Ontario with the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association Masters.
