called, “All Hail The Queen.” It takes place Saturday, August 9 at Ray Street’s Custom Framing in North Park. The exhibit features amazing portraits of local and international drag queens! Jessica: This is such an exciting

event! I love it because drag is such an art form and we are all different and beautiful in our own way, so it’s fantastic to appreciate all the queens. Daisy: I love this and can’t wait

to attend just based on the flyers I’ve seen. Miss Tootie from Lips is in the show and girl, she is workin’ the camera. It’s nice to see the queens be celebrated. We can’t get enough of a good

party in Hillcrest, so CityFest takes over Fifth Street for a fun day in the sun on Sunday, August 10. Daisy: Memo to myself... I need

sunscreen. Pride left some ridiculous tan lines that need to be evened out. Jessica: Oh good lord. There’s al-

ways another party in the gayborhood! CityFest is great though, because I only get one day of shenanigans! While you’re at it, Pageant, the the-

atrical node to drag is playing at the Cygnet Theater through August 31. Daisy: This month, we have a

theme to our recommendations— Queens—on stage, on television and in print. On that note, we have to get all

dressed up in order to attend the 39th Annual Nicky Awards Sunday, August 24 under the new dome of the Downtown San Diego Library. Daisy: I know I say this every year,

but this year, I won’t wait until the last minute to find my outfit... I promise. It has become a custom to wait until the week before to look for and purchase an outfit. I love the stress of saying “yes” to the dress. Jessica: Girl, you lie! More like

“the day before or the day of” the event. Seriously though, I guess we better start now, or at least have measurements done so we can have something made! Finally, a true queen of beauty, Miss

Vanessa Williams will be in town Friday and Saturday, August 22 and 23. Miss Williams will serenade us as part of the San Diego Symphony’s Summer Pops Concert Series on The Embarcadero downtown. See our in- terview on page 34 with Miss Thang! Daisy: Like I said before, queens,

queens and more queens. I love it. Jessica: Miss Williams in da house!

I can’t wait to pack my picnic basket and see this lovely lady perform. Yes hunty! There’s a variety of options to enjoy

this month. So, don’t say we didn’t of- fer you enough events to drag you out of your house and go mingle. If you’re craving more, check out the calendar of events on page 62. Daisy: Remember to come out and

have a ball with the Golden Chicks Show at The Brass Rail on Saturday, August 9 and Saturday, August 16. Remember, each show features the girls performing fresh numbers, with new characters, top-notch imper- sonations and high energy. There is something for everyone. Jessica: I know it’s a school night,

but come and enjoy the show. It’s early so you can still get your beauty sleep. By the way kiddies, we also want

to point out the ad on your right...yes that one about Gonorrhea, don’t be shy we also need to talk about things like this. We all have been there and done that and it’s better to go get tested and treated for this and any other STD. If you think you have been exposed or have tested positive for Gonorrhea and still have not been treated for it you might qualified to participate in a study. So Cal! With that Amigos, we say enjoy the last month of summer .

BESITOS! XOXO
