SAN DIEGO THEATRE BRIEFS:

MY FAIR LADY Who doesn’t love a good musical? In this case it’s one that defines the American musical and reflects the genius duo that is Lerner and Lowe, with the legendary Audrey Hepburn in the role of Eliza Doolittle. Now is your chance to see it live from Wednesday, August 13 through Saturday, August 30, because it’s coming to the stage at the Moonlight Amphitheater, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive in Vista. Based on Shaw’s play and Pascal’s movie Pygmalion, dear Eliza

and Professor Henry Higgins have been warming thousands of hearts since its first Broadway production in 1956. Witness Eliza’s transformation (and for that matter Henry’s) from a sharp-tongued street vendor to a high-born society lady and what truly matters for each of them in the end. For tickets and more information call 760.724.2110 or go to moonlightstage.com.

DEARLY BELOVED Texas, a wedding, a family and three Futrelle

sisters of which include the estranged yet vociferous Honey Raye (the eldest), the nervous wreck who seemingly converses with her deceased mother, Frankie (mother of the bride) and finally, Twink (the middle sis) who is ever-conniving to get her fiancée of 15 years to the altar. Add in a cantankerous flowershop/Greyhound bus station-owning wedding planner, bride-to-be Tina Jo and her twin sister Gina Jo and a Gone With The Wind grand theme—what could possibly go wrong? Well, let’s just say a whole lot… assume that the functionality of this family just ain’t. The Coronado Playhouse is putting on this delightful romp from Friday, August 15 through Sunday, September 21 and the mayhem that ensues, as Playhouse staffers say, “Puts the ‘fun’ in dysfunction!” For tickets and more information call 619.435.4856 or go to coronadoplayhouse.com.
