FRATERNITY HOUSE SUMMER MATCH CAMPAIGN Fraternity House, Inc. was founded in 1988 and operates the only two
residential care facilities for the Chronically-Ill (RCF-CI’s) in San Diego County, allowing them the flexibility to provide transitional, long-term or hospice care in both of their homes. They are dedicated to serving individu- als living with HIV/AIDS, regardless of ability to pay; by providing housing, nutritious home cooked meals, 24-hour care, assistance with complex medication regimens, coordination of appointments, transportation and recreation. They are in the middle of their Summer Match Donation Campaign and a generous donor to the organization has agreed to match individual donations through Labor Day, so each dollar you give is worth two—up to $15,000! For more information on Fraternity House, how to donate or get involved in their amazing program, go to

with many, many ways to enjoy the neighborhood. A favorite of The Rage Monthly’s (and about 150,000 of our closest friends who annually attend), is the fun-tastic CityFest and this year is no exception. Now celebrating its 30th year, CityFest 2014 will take place on Sunday, August 10 from noon to 10 p.m. and this annual event promises to be as rowdy and raucous as it has always been. Live headliner music, local bands and DJs, games and activities, a beer garden, over 250 vendors selling things you didn’t know you needed, a waterslide, more beer gardens, an international food court and petting zoo, all tied up in six blocks of fabulous fun. Community spirit is the key and who in Hillcrest doesn’t love to celebrate that? This year, for the third year in a row, you can stay past sundown and dance with San Diego’s hottest DJs under the Hillcrest sign during CityFest At Night! FEELING GOOD ROUNDUP For those within the recovery community, the San Diego Feeling Good
Roundup’s “Freedom From Bondage,” is a recovery celebration for those who wish to come together within the LGBT community from Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31. A section of the San Diego Feeling Good’s mission statement reads: “Recognizing that the rates of alcoholism and addiction are especially high in the LGBT community and that LGBT individuals seeking to recover from these addictions have needs and issues beyond those of the larger population.” The recovery network comes together during this annual roundup for workshops, recovery programs, 12-Step meetings and other “issues of interest to the LGBT community.” For more information or to register for the event go to
