some very close margins for the runners up. In fact sixth place was actually a tie between TAZ and long term boy FINN ( pictured with his rosette at right ). Jacksons Awards, a Northern Beaches company, came to the party supplying a gorgeous winning trophy and a rosette for each dog. It is a fun competition that we will certainly look at continuing each year on our facebook site.
As well as bigger young, athletic dogs we also have some mature boys and girls, like Gracie our stocky English Staffy girl, photographed with me on the opposite page. She has acquired all the good tastes – enjoys a car ride, especially in a sports car where her ears can flap in the wind, enjoys a good back scratch and massage at the end of a hard day and for food – well she will do ANYTHING! Gracie walks well on a loose lead and is ready by your side. She is affectionate and gentle but not clingy. It is hard to believe someone would leave her at the pound.
With all these larger breeds we are planning construction of some more external yards with stronger steel to keep them safe. This should commence in the next couple of months. However this is not the long term answer. We have so many young fit dogs who would suit an active outdoors family looking for a jogging companion or good swimmer to join them. Just click onto our “larger dogs” icon to see all the choices we have available. Fostering or adopting an active dog will get you motivated and fit! He will not let you miss an exercise opportunity!

Sia Prodromou puts us to shame – at 70 years running in a marathon ( see article and photos on page 37 ). I could not run to save my life. What an amazing lady! At the other end of the age spectrum are the young dancers from the Neutral Bay School of Dance raising

funds for our dogs in an annual event whilst Sophie and her school friends spent a week-end baking home-made dog biscuits and then selling them at local dog parks. The talent and commitment of our supporters astounds me at times.
