The owner of All West, Darrell Ballenco, who has set up over 500 laundro- mats across Canada, provided Wittich with the direction he needed in choosing the lineup of machines for the store. Wit- tich chose Dexter equipment because of their excellent war- ranty program and guidance from All West. “All West was and still is
very helpful . Darrel l is a wealth of information,” says Wi t t ich. “His instal l was extremely well done without any glitches as he approved the plumbing and electrical layout. He clearly understands the business and represents Dexter very well.” Wittich is running twelve 30-lb., six 20-lb., four 40-lb. and two 80-lb. washing machines, and 24 driers in two sizes. All the machines operate with the Easy Card payment system. The cards are loaded with funds and the more they are used, the greater the dis- count offered to the customer. The store is open and fully staffed daily, including a floor
manager, café manager/staff, and a seamstress on-site six days a week. The location offers wash-dry-fold, ironing, dry cleaning, alterations and coin laundry. Along with the café, there are three 61-inch televisions, seating for 18 peo- ple and outside tables. On Mondays between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the store features shows for children, encouraging fami- lies to venture in and mingle with other parents. “I started advertising using
the slogan ‘The finest laundro- mat in Canada’, which is a bit of a challenge to others to show me one that exceeds this one,” says Wittich, “but so far, no winners.” The store has only been open 12 weeks (at t ime of wri t ing) and the response from the local com- munity has been outstanding. The people of Sooke, BC are justifiably proud of this new- found haven, and Wittrich has set the industry excellence bar a few notches higher.
