K-Bro:Big, and still growing


K-Bro Linen Systems Inc. got its start in 1954 as Stork Diaper Service, operated out of a home garage. Later diversifying into health care and hospitality linen services, the company took on its current name in 1984, in honour of the Kinasewich brothers, who exited the business in 1997. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of K-Bro Linen Inc., a publicly traded corporation with over seven million common shares. The company describes itself as the largest processor of health care and hospitality laundry in


Canada. Headquartered in Edmonton, AB, it is comprised of eight plants: Edmonton; Victoria, BC; two in Vancouver, BC; Calgary, AB; Toronto, ON; Montreal and Quebec City, QC; and a future plant in Regina, SK. The company has over 1,600 employees and processes 100+ million kilograms of linen per year, or 280,000 kg daily.


NEWEST PLANT The centrepiece of the company is the new $28 million plant in Edmonton, filled with the most modern Jensen equipment and automated for safety and efficiency. The plant is 123,000 square feet, including space already allocated for additional future equipment, including a third tunnel system, to increase volume up to 36 million kilograms annually.
