WHAT’S NEW RSC BIO SOLUTIONS’ 268 WIRE LUBRICANT CERTIFIED AS 2013 VGP COMPLIANT

RSC Bio Solutions’ EnviroLogic® 268 wire rope, cable, and chain lubricant has been evaluated by independent laboratories to meet the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) defi nitions of biodegradable, minimally toxic, and not bioaccumulative. RSC Bio Solutions self-certifi es the product as 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) Compliant.

The EnviroLogic 268 lubricant is designed for use in heavy-duty wire rope, cable, and chain lines, such as those used in marine environments. As a readily biodegradable lubricant with low toxicity, the product reduces harmful eff ects when discharged into the environment. The lubricant is based on natural ester technology and is a direct replacement for mineral oil-based chain oils.

RSC Bio Solutions technology vice-president Bernie Roell said: “With a wide variety of marine applications and equipment covered under EPA VGP 2013, RSC Bio Solutions is committed to delivering technically fea- sible products that meet the requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs). Keeping heavy duty wire rope, chain, and other cable lines well-lubricated can be challenging, but our EnviroLogic 268 product meets the requirements of petroleum-based wire rope, cable, and chain lubricants, and has excellent anti-wear characteristics.” y

WHAT’S NEW CAMESA CABLE HELPS TO CLEAN-UP, SPEED-UP WIRELINE INDUSTRY

Camesa, a WireCo WorldGroup brand, announced the launch of EcoSeal, a new environment-friendly wireline for the oil and gas industry, during the 2014 Global Petroleum Show in Canada. The new cable eliminates the need for grease injection systems and allows for faster rig-up time at the wellsite. The “double-seal” technology features an inner sleeve and a specially designed outer jacket, which will reduce the need for additional equipment and provide for a cleaner jobsite.

“We fi rmly believe this new product will be a game changer in the oil and gas industry,” said Dustin Dunning, Camesa’s sales manager. “After more than a year of research and design work by our engineering staff , fi eld and trial testing, and quality control, we are able to release a product that promises to speed up the wireline rig-up process and provide a cleaner, more effi cient cable.”

By using Camesa’s EcoSeal wireline, operators no longer need additional grease pumps, which inject grease into traditional pressure control equipment, thus creating a cleaner and safer worksite. In addition, fl ow tubes and extended lubricators can also be eliminated, helping to reduce an operation’s footprint.
