Te company mission is pretty simple: total customer satisfaction. Tey strive to manufacture the world’s best products. Period. Here in the states, pewag Inc. has steadily proven itself as the innovative leader in the North American chain market. Supplying chains for the giant CAT 994 loader in 1992 landed them in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2003, they were the world’s first manufacturer to offer Grade 120 chains and components—which garnered a “Pinnacle Award” from Craneworks Magazine in 2004. In 2007, the company was the first worldwide to offer 23mm chains for giant loaders. And then the pewag SNOX—a self-mounting passenger car chain—again revolutionized the industry with a patented tensioning system that activates upon acceleration, regulates during travel, and releases when the car stops. Tis is what centuries of manufacturing history gets you: impeccably engineered, state-of-the-art products. “To put it in perspective, Columbus discovered the Americas in 1492—that gives you a sense for how old this company really is, and how long we’ve been in this business,” explained pewag Inc. President Mike Uhrenbacher. “Tere’s a great European industrial base in Austria; it’s not a large country but there are some established industries there. And somehow we’ve survived. We’ve made it through wars, depressions, recessions, international events—and we’re still there. It’s interesting

to see that companies do survive these things if they have a good strategy and a good product.” Uhrenbacher is describing the credibility, the expertise, that inevitably emerges from a successful run in business, particularly industrial business—and especially one that spans centuries. “We’ve been asked if we have any customers that go back as far as we do, and we know that at least the military does because we used to make chainmail for European knights in the 1400s—which again, gives you a

sense for the longevity of this company. Fast-forward five hundred years; now we’re making traction chains for high-tech military vehicles around the world.” Such a relationship serves as a foundation for understanding how pewag has flourished over time, while still maintaining its relevance in an ever-changing
