THUNDERBOLT was just able to get by for the win with LITTLE GIRLS crossing second. It was hoped that the problem was minor, but it was not. She had thrown a rod through the side of the engine and was done for the day. THUNDERBOLT also had issues with her reverse gear, which was slipping, and she would not be back out. There were no entrants in Class E. It was now onto the Diesel Classes. In
Class A there were two boats on the line, LYNN MARIE and WARRIOR, which was easily won by LYNN MARIE.
In Class B two boats were again on the line, and in a real tight race it was Bill Oliver’s KAREN LYNN [South Shore 34; 220-hp John Deere] just getting by Ed Glov- er’s GRACIE [33’; 160-hp John Deere] for the win.
There were two boats in the line for Class C MISS ATTITUDE and OLD SCHOOL and one in Class D Geoffrey Barrett’s LONG FACES [Duffy 34; 226 hp Isuzu] so the classes were combined. LONG FACES was the fi rst over the line winning her class. MISS ATTITUDE crossed second and took the win in her class with OLD SCHOOL second.
In Class E MISS KARLEE was going up against two Stonington boats, Nick Wiberg’s MISS KATIE [Holland 31; 355 hp Cummins] and Bryant Ciomei’s GENERAL II [Osmond 29; 370-hp Volvo]. MISS KAR- LEE took the win with MISS KATIE second. Six boats were on the line for Class F and the winner was MS ROSE. A close second was Melvin Shute’s SEA MIST [Northern Bay 36; 430-hp Volvo], which we had not seen since 2012 and before that 2007. Third went to QUICK STEP. In Class G Bill Lowe’s EMILY GRACE
[30’ Bill Lowe; 500-hp GM] took fi rst with HAPPY HOUR second.
Class H has been dominated by FIRST TEAM for a number of years and today was no different as she went on for the easy win. Second was WOUND UP, and third was HOT SPOT II.
Class I saw a repeat run of the race at Boothbay with the same results: WHIS- KEY-TANGO-FOXTROT, followed by MISTY and WILD ONE, but they seemed to be a little closer together this time. The closest race of the day took place in Diesel Class J. Seven boats were on the line, but the problem was the top boats can all do about the same speed. As they neared the

fi nish line it was close between HEY BABY [Northern Bay 36; 610-hp Volvo] and JAN- ICE ELAINE. Some on the committee boat called it for HEY BABY and some for JAN- ICE ELAINE. It was then decided to run the race again with the top three boats. As they came down the course a second time it was again close, but no question that JANICE ELAINE took the win with HEY BABY second and DEAR ABBIE third. They was still some arguing going on, but there was no question as to the winner if you were sighting the line from the committee boat. In Class K, LISA MARIE crossed the line by two boat lengths over Jeff Eaton’s LA BELLA VITA [Northern Bay 38; 750-hp Iveco].
There was only one boat in Class L,
Robert Young’s CYNTHIA LYNN [North- ern Bay 38, 1,000-hp Caterpillar] so she ran against the four boats entered in Class M. Class M consisted of GRAMP’S BIRD, the winner at Boothbay, and SIZE MATTERS the runner up. Also entered was Sy Knight’s BELLA CRIE [Young Brothers 40, 380-hp Volvo] and Alan Knowlton’s SEA URCHIN [Young Brothers 45, 375-hp John Deere]. Today the results were different as fi rst over the line was SIZE MATTERS with GRAMP’S BIRD taking second. CYN- THIA LYNN took fi rst in her class. Class N was also a repeat of Boothbay with the same results: WHISTLIN’ DIXIE, 4 GIRLS and BAILEY & BELLA. With the two big racing boats out of the Gasoline Class, it came down to three boats in the Gasoline Free-for-All. First over the line was WIDE OPEN, followed by CRY BABY and BLACK DIAMOND. Eight boats were on the line for the Diesel Free-for-All. The winner was
