CRETE CARRIER AND SHAFFER TRUCKING APPROVED FOR THE TRUCK DRIVER ON THE JOB TRAINING PROGRAM Crete Carrier Corporation, and their


subsidiary Shaffer Trucking, officially announced their approval from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide on the job training to veterans and other eligible persons. Tis is a twelve-month program that provides approved veterans and other eligible persons access to GI Bill benefits. According to the Driver Development

promotions coordinator for Nebraska Truck Center, Inc., said this was the first year her employer has been involved in Heartland United Way’s Adopt-a-Family program. “When we did our United Way campaign


in October, I set out little containers and explained to our employees that we were raising money (for) Adopt a Family and told them they could contribute anything they could as it all would help,” she said. “It was a good way to give back to the community and get our employees involved.” Te employees contributed $535 and


Nebraska Truck Center kicked in $250. With that money, Marshall said they adopted two families. Marshall said she had an employee give her


a donation and told her it included $10 from his 7-year old son. “His son had overheard our employee and


his wife talking over breakfast that morning about our adopted family and what we were doing and decided he wanted to help buy gifts for the family, too,” she said, “so he took $10

out of his piggy bank and gave it to his dad to donate.” She said it was a great team building


experience at Nebraska Truck Center’s Grand Island location. Other Nebraska Truck Centers in Hastings and North Platte also contributed to their communities during the holiday season. “I’m glad we could bring some Christmas


cheer not only to one family, but two families in our community,” Marshall said. “It helps promote our community involvement as a company and helps gets employees engaged in the community and gives them a way to contribute back.” She said this year, Nebraska Truck Center


set a company record of more than $10,000 in employee giving in the three communities.

Manager, Issac Phillips, with this program in place, service members transitioning from the military will not only receive on the truck training with Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking, they may be eligible to receive additional compensation from their GI Bill. “Tis program, along with the Patriot Fleet, are two ways Crete and Shaffer are giving back and supporting the men and women that served this country,” stated Issac. “As a company, we are very excited to


announce the approval of this program. We are all very proud of our men and women who have served,” says Tim Aschoff, COO of Crete Carrier, “and this program is just one way we can help honor our country’s veterans by providing them opportunities to transition back to civilian life.” Crete and Shaffer have received numerous


awards as a national leader in supporting current and former members of the military. Tis year alone, Crete Carrier Corporation received the American Legion Employer of Veterans Award for the Large Business category and was recognized as a finalist for
