Grammar school head wins county award


A MAIDSTONE head has been voted Kent head teacher 2014 at the Kent Teacher of the Year awards ceremony. Julie Derrick, head of Invicta Grammar School for the past three years, was chosen by a panel of judges from all the local authority areas in the county from nomina- tions submitted by students, par- ents and staff. She was voted top headteacher in the Maidstone area – and overall winner for the county. Mrs Derrick is an advanced Skills teacher of business, who started her career at Invicta in 2004. Her key focus is to ensure that In-

Water slide sure to be a hit at fair THERE will be some wet, wild and wacky wet action at Laddingford School’s summer fair this year. Organisers of the fair, which takes place on the Jubilee Field in Darman
