PLANS are underway for a new building at the Fusion Healthy Liv- ing Centre in ParkWood. The building, which should be


ready by Easter 2015, will provide better space for both Fusion and other organisations which use the centre, including a drug and alcohol recovery service, the Princess Project and Citizens’Advice. The drop-in recovery service,


which began on April 1, will run fortnightly, while the Maidstone Carers Project holds a drop in on the last Friday of each month, offering advice and support to anyone caring


Hockey club’s junior stars


JUNIOR award winners at Maidstone Hockey Club were applauded at a presentation night. The clubhouse was packed with juniors, parents, coaches and adult members for an emotional evening. There were speeches from chair-


man Roger Daniels and Mick Emery, hockey manager-juniors, and parents were thanked for their support. Coaches Lou Cassey, Julie Davies, Madeleine Putter, Wendy Emery,


Jimmy Christmas, Greg Lauresen, Matt Emery were thanked. The transition of players from the


junior ranks to adult teamswas won- derful, members heard. The coaches

ing on the allotment site at Christ Church and an official opening cere- mony will take place this month. There are 24 plots available for tenants who fancy growing their own produce – anyone interested should contact community develop- ment worker Aimee Bartlett at the Fusion office. Aimee is also planning to produce

Christ Church and the Park Wood men’s group are flourishing. This is a vibrant time to be involved in the ParkWood community and we are looking forward to a bright future.”


Garden open

ENJOY tea and scones in the colourful garden of 59 Newbury Avenue, Allington, as apart of The Heart of Kent’s fundraising Open Gardens scheme. The garden is open from 10am to 12.30pm on Saturday, May 31, and a suggested minimum donation of £3 is payable at the door (free for children under 16).
