FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I am pleased to present the 2013 CALEA Annual Report, and honored to do so as CALEA Executive Director. Since my appointment, I have received tremendous sup- port from the Commission and, with its direction, look forward to guiding CALEA to a greater level of service.

M

y goal is to develop new resources to provide timely, accessible, client-centric support to all agencies pursuing CALEA Accreditation. This includes enhancing our online pro- cesses and electronic capabilities to make the accreditation process less time-consuming and more efficiently accomplished. It also means adding the resources to streamline specific service aspects, such as the assessment process. I am committed to ensuring that the CALEA Accreditation model remains relevant and provides value-added returns on investment.

It is also important to note that I have received and appreciate the ongoing support from our found- ing organizations. Furthermore, I am encouraged and inspired by the passion and commitment of so many—accreditation managers and CEOs, assessors, Commissioners, and staff—that work stead- fastly to ensure CALEA remains the preeminent leader in public safety accreditation.

Accreditation is about peer review and a collective dedication to an important purpose… and it is clear CALEA is fulfilling its mission as a credentialing organization for the very best in public safety.

W. CRAIG HARTLEY, JR. CALEA Executive Director
