Welcome Letter


April 7, 2014 Dear Attendee: On behalf of the Advisory Board, welcome to the 2014 Green California Summit!


The theme for this Summit is “Green California: It’s happening now,” in recognition of the breadth and depth of the Golden State’s efforts to meet the challenges of managing its unequalled natural resources. More than any other state, California is acting now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and to build an economy based on core values that include environmental preservation and health.


Each year, the Summit benefi ts from the guidance and participation of individuals from the public and private sectors who are designing and directing sustainability programs that are models for the rest of the country, and beyond. Many of them are with us, speaking in keynote sessions or educational seminars, sharing their exper- tise in informal meetings or staffi ng booths in the Expo. We hope you’ll take advantage of every opportunity to meet, network with and learn from them.


In addition to hands-on exposure to the abundance of exciting products and services on display in the Expo, you’ll fi nd booths staffed by representatives from governmental agencies and non-profi t organizations. This is another way to discover resources for your programs, or to get your questions about codes and regulations answered by an expert.


While there is no question that the Golden State is enjoying a season of growth, the recent drought emergency highlights the need for all Californians to consider the environmental impacts of their behavior, whether at work or at home. Your presence here signals your understanding of this reality and your willingness to play a part in creating a healthy and bountiful future.
