A PLAN has been submitted for a replacement café and extended vis- itor centre at the Cabin Café in Cob- tree Manor Park in Forstal Road, nearAylesford. The visitor centre would include
a dining area, improved toilet facil- ities and space for functions aswell as a ranger’s office. The public toiletswere said to be
are “oversized and subject to anti- social behaviour”. Maidstone Council will decide the application. Recent improvements to the park include new pathways, woodland walks, children’s play features, and an extended car park.
Discs thief jailed
A30-YEAR-OLDwomanwas jailed after admitting stealing CDs and DVDs from a shop in King Street, Maidstone. Anna Violo, ofWillington Street,
was sentenced to four weeks in prison by Mid Kent magistrates. Because the offencewas committed during a suspended sentence, the jail termwas increased to 10weeks.

Extra train services proposed
COMMUTERS could get a third peak service into London by the end of the year. Southeastern wants to intro-
duce a rush-hour service from Maidstone East into Blackfriars, stopping atWest Malling. A spokesman said: “The with-
drawal of our limited peak serv- ice into Cannon Street in December 2009 was pretty un- popular. We have listened to
comments and are proposing this service into Blackfriars as a half- way house, taking commuters closer to the City.” Also proposed is an extension
to the Victoria service via Maid- stone East, providing an off- peak, stopping service to CanterburyWest via Ashford In- ternational. The proposed services could be introduced from December.
