Thames Valley accountants and business advisers James Cowper has elected a new managing partner. Business services partner Robert Holland (above left) will take over the baton from Steve Clarke, who has held the position for the past six years. Clarke will return to full-time fee-earning client work. It has also promoted Alan Poole (above right) to partner in the audit and assurance team. Both appointments will take effect from May 1. Commenting on his election to the role Holland said: “It is a real privilege to lead this great firm. The knowledge and expertise my colleagues hold is second to none and is at the heart of the firm’s success. As we emerge from one of the toughest recessions in living memory we, and the clients we serve, will continue to face many challenges. This firm is in tune with the needs of its clients,
has the technical excellence that is rarely seen outside of the very largest accountancy firms, and the passion to continue to deliver the support its clients need and to provide the foundations for further growth. I would also like to extend the gratitude and thanks from all of my colleagues to Steve. Steve has done a terrific job in driving the firm forward over the past six years through tough trading conditions.” Poole joined James Cowper in 2010 following 12 years with a top-six firm. He works with ambitious and fast-growing owner-managed, VC-backed and publicly-listed businesses. He has experience in a wide range of sectors and a particular expertise in businesses in the IT and service sectors. He also works with numerous international business, including UK subsidiaries of overseas groups and UK-headed multinationals.
