Leland McNabb presented the MBA’s highest honor, the
Judge Jerome Turner Lawyer’s Lawyer Award, to Jim Garts. According to Garts, “the best part of getting the Lawyer’s Lawyer Award was having the opportunity to speak to so many members of the legal profession as a captive audience! It was great fun to interject some humor into my comments since sometimes, in my opinion, we take ourselves a bit too seriously.” In his remarks Garts noted three areas he felt lawyers could
improve. “First, is listening to and communicating with our clients. Second, is treating our fellow lawyers with respect, e.g. not engaging in knee-jerk accusations of improper or unethical conduct. And third is paying attention to our interpersonal relationships with family and friends, whom we sometimes neglect while being engrossed in law practice.” 2014 President Kirk Caraway explained his goal of better
serving MBA members in a variety of ways, including making sure all members know about all that the MBA offers. Te results of the YLD elections were announced. Jake
