t’s never too early to join a library and start sharing books with your baby. Sharing books with babies and toddlers helps children develop language and listening skills – and it’s fun. Libraries welcome families and work closely with the national Bookstart scheme.
Bookstart and Libraries I
Children up to the age of 5 can join the Bookstart Bear Club in Nottingham City Libraries. Ask at the library for a FREE pack containing a Bookstart bear passport and bookmark. There are 10 certificates that each child can receive for participating in library Totstimes or from sharing books. To make that first certificate extra special, children will also receive a free book!
Bookstart Baby pack: For children under 1 year - available from your health visitor. As well as free books and information for parents, the pack also contains a library membership form – although you do not have to wait until you receive your pack to join the library.
Bookstart Treasure pack: For children aged 3 - 4yrs available from your child’s playgroup, nursery or other early years setting.

The benefits of baby swimming
T
aking your baby to a Puddle Ducks class will be the most rewarding activity you can do together. Only in water can a baby move freely and develop core muscle development and co-ordination far earlier than they would otherwise be able to.
Baby swimming classes provide a complete physical work-out, strengthening your baby’s heart and lungs and often improving eating and sleeping patterns. It is a truly magical way to bond with your baby in their small and friendly classes. Jump in to a class at any age and at any point in the term.
