resolutions because I always feel disappointed when I fall short of some hardcore, impossible type-A goal I have set for myself. So instead, the last few years I have set soft goals that are more relaxed and offer some flexibility. For example, this year I am encouraging myself to increase my exercise level by any amount and try new workouts. I’m currently addicted to hot yoga and can’t believe I never tried it before. I love the sweat, the burn, the breathing and the let it all go sensation that follows after an hour-and-a-half class. I’m learning to be kinder to myself, grateful to my body for all the hard work it does day after day and more importantly, taking time to just be present in my own space. “Pilates for Weight Loss,” by Victoria Everman, on page 28 might be your motivation to try something new this year. Long, lean muscles and a strong core look great on everybody.

I was inspired to include “Doggy Breath,” by Shawn Messonnier, this month when my Maltese, Harley, almost knocked me out with his breath. I started the gel and a natural parsley chew as recommended and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in only two weeks. Our monthly Natural Pet department offers many natural remedies and solutions for pet troubles. Please email me if you have any particular requests and I will do my best to locate information that may be helpful to you and your pets.

I wish you all the healthiest and happiest New Year. May your brand-new year be the best ever for mind, body and spirit.

Wishing you peace, harmony and wellness always,
