Celebrate New Year’s Eve with Unity Transformation O

n New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m., Rev. Lora Beth Gilbreath of Unity Trans- formation will celebrate Unity’s annual Burning Bowl Ceremony at Shanti Yoga Haven in the Bearden area of Knoxville. “The Burning Bowl Ceremony allows participants the opportunity to release

mental burdens, unforgiven issues and unwanted habits,” Gilbreath says. “Also, participants identify positive expecta- tions for the upcoming year.” The first part of the service involves writing down a list of things to be “released” from the previous year. Individual lists are then burned to symbolize the letting go of the old and mak- ing way for the new. “This powerful annual ceremony provides a rich opportunity for closing out the year and setting inten- tions for the New Year,” Gilbreath says. “Perhaps the most pow- erful part is when individuals see their lists go up in flames.” The second part of the service allows participants to write a “Letter to God” stating their desires and intentions for the upcoming year. Each letter is sealed in a self-addressed envelope that will be mailed back to the participant at the end of the year.

Unity Transformation, affiliated with Unity Worldwide Ministries, meets every Sunday at 10:55 a.m. at Shanti Yoga Haven, 12 Forest Court, Knoxville. Unity is known for its in- spirational magazine, Daily Word (DailyWord.com), and for its prayer ministry, Silent Unity (1-800-NOW-PRAY), which has been in nonstop prayer since 1890.
