Beijing is a must-see. In 2008, my husband Jock Hildebrand and I travelled to China to take part in a sculpture conference in Changchun. On our way there, we decided to spend a few extra days in Beijing and see some of what this amazing city has to offer. One of the highlights of our tour was 798.
The art zone spans an area which was once Factory. When the corporation moved out of the district, it leased some of its buildings, including the 798 factory, to artists. Over a period of time, through word of mouth, more and more artists and other creative people were attracted to this unique

When Jock and I toured this area, we were absolutely amazed and almost overwhelmed by the quality and diversity of art, architecture and other forms of creative expression displayed in an area just over half a square kilometer. Over 400 cultural organizations from almost every corner of the globe are represented here.
