Maryland Will Miss
Susanne G. Pearce of Parkton died on June 13 at the age of 70. She bred T oroughbred racehorses including Call of a Lion, who won the Maryland Million Distaff Starter in 2011. T e fi lly went undefeated in seven starts that season and was ranked among the top 20 winningest horses in the nation. Anthony John Sniadowski, Jr., died on June 25 at the age of 82. He was from Elkton and owned Lyons Pharmacy. He was a breeder, owner and racing fan. As a breeder, Sniadowski produced Sonofaqueen, who won 18 of 71 starts as well as 12-time winner Victocratic. Judy Smith, 68, of Finksburg died on
October 14. Smith had a lifelong love of horses and foxhunted with Potomac Hunt. She also exhibited top show hunters and enjoyed simply riding out across country. She found great joy spending time with friends at horse
shows whether on a horse or just hanging out at the in-gate. And if you hung around the in-gate long enough, Smith would entertain you with one hysterical story after another! She is fondly remembered by that great smile, with a twinkle in her eye, mane of blond hair, infectious laugh, and an endearing kindness to those lucky enough to have known her. Smith will be missed by her husband Smitty, daughter Teresa, son Danny, and her faithful dogs and horses. (provided by Sheila Keenan)
