As soon as you are away, you will start to miss everyday things that you take for granted; such as your bed, your room, pets, home cooked meals, surroundings etc.
All of the above form your emotional support and are the reason you are feeling this way. If you have made it this far, we at Save the Student! consider you very brave, but you are not alone.
Here are a few tips & suggestions to make your stay in the UK a more pleasant experience:
DON’T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME IN YOUR ROOM
Often being in isolation can exaggerate your feelings. Keep yourself busy by taking part in various activities; join clubs and societies, sports, or find a part-time job.
With your mind preoccupied, you wont have time to miss home.
DO SOMETHING TO COPE
There are different coping methods for different personalities. Try them out and find which works best for you. Keep a diary or talk to someone – either a university counsellor or a close friend.
