Nursery offers MP promoted to sports minister

‘good’ service THENursery atMaidstone’s old St Peter’s Church provides a “good” environment and facili- ties for youngsters to learn, ac- cording to an Ofsted report. The former church in Buck-

land Road, opened as a nursery in September 2002. The inspector, who gave the nursery a grade 2 rating (good), remarked on the excellent facil- ities and quality of carers. “Staff are well qualified and

use their knowledge of the in- dividual children to plan stim- ulating, exciting opportunities. “Children use speech well,

with staff supporting all chil- dren in developing their com- munication skills.” It noted that youngsters were encouraged to take part in daily outdoor activities using a good range of resources. The Ofsted inspector sug- gested a review of the nursery’s daily routine could improve its overall grade. It said: “On some occasions

staff do not allow the routine of the day to be flexible, resulting in children wasting time.” It also said more labels in the rooms, especially the pre- school room, would help chil- dren link words with meanings. The report concluded by praising the nursery for its rela- tionship with parents.
