Innovative Learning Leading the way in teaching innovation, MA Public Health students embraced technology in a recent lecture as they were taught by Marie Ferrante, an Associate Protection Officer with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Despite being based in Jonglei State, South Sudan, Marie discussed issues of humanitarian assistance and healthcare delivery in resource conflicted situations online through Skype providing a valuable insight to the students through her experience and knowledge.
Student James Kelly said, "I thought the session was brilliant. It made me realise even more so how important the work is.” This innovative use of online technology allowed students to discuss and learn from the experience of a field- active agent.
Student Case Study Longtao He (China)
""I was very nervous and under- confident when I arrived in the UK, since it was my first overseas experience. My supervisors at NTU
not only provided me with excellent academic support, but also personal support which has continued even after graduation, which makes me as an international student very proud to be 'Nottingham Trenter'.
"At present, I am undertaking PhD research, while I am employed as a tutor at a university, due to the academic knowledge and skills I acquired at NTU.”
Longtao has since been invited to participate in the 2nd International Conference on Age-Friendly Cities in Canada by the World Health Organisation.
