T e Equiery’s Associate Publisher Jennifer Webster joined some friends for a late summer vacation in the Blue Grass state where they had a chance to catch up with some old Maryland friends, check out the yearling sales and explore the Kentucky Horse Park and Kentucky Derby Museum.

Maryland Racing Secretary Georganne Hale visits with Lemon Drop Kid, who she knew in his earlier years when he was owned by the late Jeanne Vance from Glencoe. Georganne’s parents managed and trained at the Vance farm for many years.


Cigar, foaled at Country Life Farm and the winner of nearly $10 million, at the Kentucky Horse Park. He was also named Horse of the Year in 1995 and 1996.

Jennifer Webster makes friends with 28-year-old Sunshine Forever, once the American Male Champion Turf Horse of the Year. He is one of the lucky ones saved by Michael Blowen, and will live out his golden years at Old Friends.
