Congratulations to BP, who have been crowned the winners of MyKindaCrowd’s AGR Conference competition. The steady-handed victor of this challenge successfully negotiated MyKindaCrowd’s buzzwire, landing themselves an online challenge worth over £8,000

In the months since winning, BP have now revealed that they will be using their prize to promote their Ultimate Field Trip competition, with a specific focus on recruiting multi-disciplinary teams and more women. MyKindaCrowd will run the challenge on their behalf into universities across the UK, concentrating on those institutions they don’t currently market in. They will conduct a telephone campaign to lecturers to encourage team entries and reach out to student societies and academic societies to promote the competition.

RMP Enterprise has announced the launch of the National Undergraduate Employability Awards (NUE Awards), formerly the National Placement & Internship Awards. The rebranding is a reaction to the changing marketplace, reflecting the wider pool of schemes on offer for today’s students before they enter full-time employment upon graduation. Companies today have to compete hard for the top talent, which is one reason why a variety of schemes have opened up from the traditional placement year to include internships, vacation schemes, and short- term insights. The number of students on short-term insights has grown by 270% in the last year alone, as these opportunities are increasingly viewed and utilised as a long term recruitment solution. With retention rates hitting highs of 60%, undergraduate schemes are becoming the bread and butter of the recruitment world. It’s these students who are to be the future managers of businesses nationwide, and to buy them in early is key, not only for feeding graduate pipelines but securing longer term retention rates.

Oliver Sidwell, co-founder of RMP Enterprise, explains, “Desire amongst students for work experience has never been greater and our Awards highlight the exemplary work that goes on within organisations, universities and by students across the nation.” He adds that the Awards will continue to act as the benchmark for undergraduate successes.

The NUE Awards are sponsored by PwC and supported by AGR and AGCAS. New for 2014, RMP is proud to announce that it’s working in association with The Guardian, further highlighting the importance of undergraduate employability. This year also sees the introduction of a brand new Award in the universities category; Best University Placement Service. The introduction of this Award also reflects the increased efforts which universities are making in the marketplace. The closing date for nominations is Friday 15th November, and the winners will be announced on Friday 7th March 2014 at etc.venues in London.
