JCB raiders grab cash machine

cash Clearing up the debris and protecting the bank premises shortly after the ram raid on Lloyds Bank

RAM raiders used a stolen JCB to smash into a bank wall at Loose Road, Maidstone, and steal a cash machine. The machine was loaded onto a blue pick-up

truck which drove off along Cripple Street to- wards Farley Hill. The vehicle was later found dumped at Lon-

gend Road, Claygate, near Marden, while the ex- cavator, which had been stolen from a nearby building site, was left at the scene. The gang struck shortly before 3.40am on Sat-

urday, November 13, demolishing part of the side wall at the Lloyds TSB branch. No-one was hurt in the incident and no weapons were used. The area was sealed off the following day for forensic investigations. Det Sgt Shelley Chantler said: “Members of the public may have been in the area when the theft happened and witnessed the incident or the

events leading to it. “We would like to speak to anyone who wit-

nessed the incident or who may have seen or heard anything in the early hours of this morning, in particular if vehicles were seen arriving in or leaving the area.” Police are also appealing for witnesses in the Claygate area where the pick-up was abandoned.
